APIQ Meeting: White Elephant!

Hey APIQers!

Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving break!

As this is our LAST GENERAL MEETING OF FALL QUARTER and it happens to be on the week before finals week rears its ugly head, I think it would be a good idea to end this quarter on a fun, non-stressful note.

For this meeting, we will be holding a White Elephant Gift Exchange!

If you don’t know how a white elephant gift exchange works, here is the basic premise:

Once a play order is established, the first person chooses from the pile of gifts and unwraps it. The next person then has a choice of either stealing a previously unwrapped gift, or choosing a new gift from the pile. The game continues until all gifts have been opened.

Now that you know how to play, and you are clearly super excited to participate (I’m staring at you right now and you totally look super excited), make sure you buy a gift!!

There are only two criteria for your gift choices: make sure it is between $5 to $10, and that it is as fun/memorable/ridiculous as possible. Don’t forget to wrap it too!

Here are the details:

What: White Elephant
When: Thursday, December 1, 2011
            7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: 2016 Haring Hall (Map: http://g.co/maps/gyddt)

Depending on the amount of gifts/how fast we play, we may end with some extra time which will be used for dinner afterwards!

We hope to see a lot of people here!

Forever yours,
APIQ Core

Anonymous asked: could we have some type of meeting, workshop, or discussion about the current protest issues and how they apply to the APIQ community? this would be a really good chance to immerse APIQ members into the world of social justice.

See the event below! Hope to see you there! Also, if you ever want to talk about it with one of us, you are more than welcome to. :)

INFORMAL DINNER TOMORROW AT 5PM TO DISCUSS ISSUES ON OUR CAMPUS

Hey Y’all

In response to the recent incidents on our campus, APIQ Core felt that it was necessary to have a time open for members to come and discuss their feeling and opinions on it.

Since we will not be meeting this week due to Thanksgiving Break, come join us for dinner at Ali Baba’s at 5 to discuss these issues!! :)

For those of you interested, there is also a townhall meeting from 5-7 in Freeborn Hall where the Chancellor will be present. There is also a open forum that is going to be put on by the Queer, Feminist, and Transgender Studies Research Cluster regarding police presence on our campus. Depending on who shows up tomorrow, we can walk over together to either of these events.

Hope you all are hanging in there as the quarter comes to a close. Take care of yourselves and have a good thanksgiving!!

Anonymous asked: hello, I was wondering why the pumpkin carving was cancelled? the new meeting sounds like fun but I kind of planned to come to the next meeting specifically for the pumpkin carving. not sure where I would do it otherwise so I was looking forward to it.

Hey Anon!

Sorry to disappoint you this year; however, if you really want to pumpkin carve, Triple A is actually holding a pumpkin carving event tomorrow as well. Here is their official facebook event page. (But do you REALLY want to miss out on Mummy Runway?!!? :3)

We weren’t sure on how many APIQers wanted to pumpkin carve, plus, we felt like changing it up a bit this year! We hope you’ll find tomorrow’s meeting just as, if not more fun :)
